>reduce its outstock products,
>reduice inventory,
> reduce time spent in invoice disputes.

Q 2. What is the ralationship between EDI and data synchronisation ?

Ans:- Firstly viewing the two entities that is EDI and Data synchronisation, as separate entities.

EDI is the inter-organisational exchange of business documents in structured machine processable form. Electronic data interchange can be used to electronically transmit documents such as purchase orders, invoices, shipping bills, receiving advices and other standard business correspondance between trading partners.

Data synchronisation is the process of establishing consistency among data from a source to a target data storage and vice-versa and continous harmonisation of data over time.It is the fundamental to the wide variety of applications including file synchronisation and mobile device synchronisation eg. for PDAs.

To understand the relation among them, EDI is fully integrated with application programs not only does data flow between trading partners without the need for re-keying but data also flows electronically between internal applications of each of the trading partners, which is efficiently handled and controled fluently by the data synchronisation process which involves not only data entity, but also deals with :
>file synchronisation,
>version control,
>distributed file systems,
> mirroring,
in that all these attempt to keep the sets of files synchronised. However only version control and file synchronisation tools can deal with modifications to more than one copy of the files.
Thus it can be easily said that data synchronisation comes within the domain of EDI, as it can be said that EDI functions efficiently and supportively to the trade partners if it is handled along with the functions and operations of the process of data synchronisation.
